Stilbaai is spoilt with a variety of excellent beaches. For many years now, Lappiesbaai Beach (Main Beach) has met the blue flag status. To achieve this status, over 33 different criteria must be obtained, such as water quality, environmental management, safety and services etc.
Hessequa Municipality
The Municipality is a very well run and hands-on municipality with excellent communication and service delivery. It is generally a stable environment with continuity. Roads and services are well maintained and infrastructure is continually upgraded. The administration is in Riversdale, approx. 40 km away, however there is an office in Stilbaai for convenience. The municipality is regarded as one of the best run municipalities in South Africa and has clean audits.

How much is the monthly levy?
We are hoping to keep it as low as possible but enough to safeguard your investment in Thornehill Eco Estate.
What security measures will there be?
We are looking at installing cameras connected to a security company. The area is very safe and crime is not a problem at this stage. But saying that, the necessary upgrades will be implemented when and if the need arises.
Can I design my own house?
Yes, provided the design adheres to the Thornehill Eco Estate architectural guidelines
Can I change the design/size/ finishes of my unit?
Yes, provided that amendments do not increase the threshold size to over 350 m2 and the changes meet the design guidelines.
Who owns the common property?
Each of the 20 owners own the open space property. So, each owner has a 700m2 title deed and the balance of the property is owned by all 20 owners managed by the home owner association.
Can I keep pets?
Yes, pets are allowed, however dogs for example must be kept on a leash whilst walking on the estate (please refer to HOA rules PDF, page – 100). HOA rules and all housekeeping issues are discussed.
